I read in a magazine that when a new baby comes you should give your toddler a gift, so he feels special also. My son will be three when this baby comes and I was wondering how many parents actually did this?

Answer
Im going to ( 2 weeks away) it will include a gift from the new baby, a special picture books of her and family members, and a few "girl only toys". Im also taking all her onsies that had sayings on it when she was an infant and making her a quilt and taking a picture of her and the new baby, and her and her daddy and I and putting those on fabric. Were also going to be getting her a few new movies from Kai Lan. Lastly a big sister t-shirts. Right now shes SO excited for the new baby to come, hopefully that will stay once he is born. We are planning on really letting her be involved- helping us change his daiper, helping feed him ect so Im thinking of making her her own little diaper bag, for him or her own babies and then getting some paint and painting the outside of a bottle so she has her own special one.

EDIT- jeeze whats with all the thumbs down?

I need i check list for everything a baby needs for its first year of life? Can anyone find one?

I'm 18 yrs old and my 13yr old cousin (Harley) just had a baby(Melissa). In which I am the godmother of. The baby was born on the 10th of Feb and she is a premie. Well the home (trailer) that Harley and Melissa live in is horriable it's almost impossiable to live in. 5 people in a 2 bedroom. To make a long story short. Harley is being neglected(spelled wrong). Her gardian refuses to help. Everything that melissa has, was bought for her from my family Also stuff from Wic.No one wants to help her out because all that everyone cares about is are their drugs and booze. Harley is young yet mature, she stays very stressed out. I help as much as I can. I just don't understand how blood can turn down this 13 yr old child and refuse to help her. Yes she shouldn't even be having sex but I respect her for keeping her baby. How do I get Harley and Melissa to live with me. I dont want it to get ugly. What are the TN laws? (Im from Illinois) Im just stressed and hurt about the whole situation.

Answer
There are a few very important factors to consider here, some of which have already been mentioned.

First of all, you need to ask yourself a few questions....

Are you, at 18 years old, mature enough to become a parent to a teenager and an infant? You do realize that's what you'd be doing, right? Not just becoming a parent to the baby, but to it's mother as well. Melissa is not old enough to be a parent, she still needs one!
Do you make enough money to adequately support a 13 year old and an infant and yourself? Please realize that, in giving you custody of these two children, the state would want them EACH to have a bedroom. Can you afford a 3 bedroom house/apartment? Can you afford to feed and clothe them? Does your work schedule permit for being home to help the teen with her homework? Can you afford diapers and wipes and diaper cream and baby wash and toys? Will you be able to pay the electric bill without struggling? The 13 year old is still too young to have the option of quitting school early....Can you afford day care while she is attending school? Do you have a car, and the ability to put gas in it to drive them both to doctors' appointments and such? The teen is too young to sign legal papers pertaining to her baby's care, such as those required for vaccinations at the doctor's office, so you will need to take the baby to those appointments....Does your job permit the ability to take that time off, every month? Vaccinations are given at 2, 4, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, and 24 months, just to start out with. You'll need that day off every other month at least, not to mention when the baby is sick, you'll be the one taking her to the doctor. Are you going to lose your job when you start taking all these days off? What's the call-in policy at your job? Babies don't give notice when they're going to get sick. In addition, do you plan to have the extra money lying around for emergencies, such as Infant Tylenol, Cold medicines, prescriptions that the insurance doesn't cover? Also, can you properly care for an infant? Do you know how to use a nasal aspirator? Do you have a humidifier? Is the house baby-proofed? Do you have a crib? A stroller? I am assuming the mother already has a car seat.....

There are LOTS of things to consider.

Now, on to the legal aspects.....The first step in removing a child, or children, from an improper home, is to prove that their guardians are unfit. This means you have to prove to a court, or the Department of Children and Families, that the child is being harmed, or is in a possibly harmful situation, is being abused, or neglected. If any of these are the situation, you can make an anonymous report, or leave your name, with DCS/DSS/DCF, and they will investigate. If they agree that Melissa and Harley are being harmed or neglected, they will remove them from the home.

Here's the hard part, they probably aren't going to give them to you. They will be placed in foster care, most likely together, but there is a possibility that Harley will be taken from Melissa, because very few foster families are willing to take teen moms and their babies. Then you would have to petition for custody, but be aware that the court will give Melissa's guardians adequate time to get custody of her again. They will re-investigate the matter every 30-90 days and if the parents clean up their act, the kids go back to them. In the mean time, they may allow the girls to live with you, but you have to be aware that around 50% of children eventually go back to their biological guardians.

Your parents, if they are willing, would have better luck getting custody of Melissa and Harley. Most courts will not, simply WILL NOT, give an 18 year old custody of ONE child, much less two. I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it just doesn't happen, and especially not in Tennessee where people would rather glance the other way than admit a problem. You really need someone older, with a more stable home, to get custody of the girls, and then if that person wants to let them live with you, Great!

The other option you have is to request, from Melissa's parents, that perhaps she and the baby would be more comfortable living with you. If they truly don't care about her or the infant, they may just let her go, especially since you're a cousin. I'd try that first, before you go forth with any legal activity.

Good Luck!

What kind of things do you add to your baby registry?

Amy

I have no idea where to begin.. or end, for that matter.

Answer
I went to babies r us and Target. At first I wasn't going to go to babies r us, but it is amazing how much more they have than Target.

First do not register for any cute clothes. That is what most people will buy you so why register and get more outfits than you will know what to do with.

Here are some things for your registry

Bottles -even if you are breastfeeding put dowm some bottles just in case.
Bottle brush cleaner
Bottle drying rack
Swing
play mat
some toys
infant tub
hooded towels
washclothes
baby bath soap- johnsons or aveeno - I love aveeno
diapers- i wouldn't put tons of size 1 or 2 (maybe 2 boxes of each and I never bought newborn diapers)
wipes
stroller and carseat- put down for an extra base if you have more than one car
blankets- i got tons of these but you never know if you will get a lot or not
socks
sleepers, gowns
onesies ( 0-3 months, 3-6 months, 6-9 months
high chair ( personally I love the Fisher Price Space Saver)
crib
changing table not a necessity but I love mine for changing and storage
thermometer
baby medicine like mylicon drops, fever reducer

That is all I can think of for now. Good luck

How do I occupy a 14 month old boy on his first airplane flight?

best toys for infant on airplane image

Goldie

My 14 month old grandson will be flying for about 3 hours at a time. (roundtrip). I would like to put together a fun pak for him to have on the plane to help with fussiness. He will not have his own seat, so he will be on a parents lap. What kind of things would work best for this situation?
Thanks

Answer
Definately make sure that you have a bottle or dummy for your grandson for take off and landing as the sudden increase and decrease of altitude and cabin pressure is quite harsh on their little ears.

Perhaps pop together a little gift pack.. sticker books, crayons, paper, toys, snacks ect ect. And reward him every so often, if he start to get restless, let him know that he has been a good boy and if he keeps being a good boy then he may get another present.

This way you are keeping him entertained with one thing at a time, he wont get bored of everything so quickly if he is given each item separetly, it also encourages good behaviour.
Perhaps wrap the treats, so its more exciting for him to open!

Also, when you check in for your flight, with a smile kindly ask the ground staff if there is any possibility of being placed in a row of seats where there maybe a spare seat. Unless the flight is full, this should not be a problem. Even though you have not purchased a seat for the infant, as long as he is on the lap of a parent for take off and landing there is no reason as to why he cant be in a spare seat through out the flight!

One last thing, many airlines have inflight entertainment devices that can be hired for the flight, these generally have cartoons for children on them and movies for all ages - just incase he gets sick of it!!

Hope this helps a little!!

Happy and Safe flying!

What should I do if my dog freaks out while we are on an airplane?

Heidi L

I'm taking a trip across the country with my Shih Tzu and my vet suggested not giving her sedatives. What can I do to keep my dog calm?

Answer
The best thing we have found with our Shih-Poo was to keep her favorite toy with her in her carrier and hold her on your lap while in flight. You can then put your hand in with her and that will help keep her calm. You can also safely give a dog Benadryl and that will keep them calm and tranquil with absolutely no harm. My sister has a 12 pound Havanese and she needs to give her Benadryl each time they fly. Use a small dose about half the doe for an infant.

I have a 6 and 5 year old in two booster seats and just found out i'm expecting.. Will a 2011 Nissan Rogue fit 2 boosters and an infant car seat comfortably or should i start looking around for something bigger

Answer
Congratulations!

It totally depends on what seats your children will be riding in and in what positions.

Many parents have successfully installed three car seats across as shown here: http://www.car-seat.org/showthread.php?t=33226

I would look into the Chicco Key Fit 30 infant car seat as it is typically narrower than other infant car seats. Usually the KeyFit works best when installed in the center. Another option is using a convertible car seat straight from birth. Look at the lowest bottom slots measuring about 8 inches or less to ensure the harness straps can be adjusted at or below the baby's shoulders.

The Diono Radian is the narrowest car seat on the market that measures about 14" across the thighs and 17" wide at the shoulders. It is typically outgrown around age 3-5 rear facing and another two to three years forward facing. This means that it will be the last harnessed car seat your child will need. It is spendy, but it is indeed worth it. The Radian R100 can typically be found on sale on amazon for around $207: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=diono+radian+r100

A newborn needs their car seat in at at a 45 degree angle to keep their airway open and the Radian does take up a ton of front to back space in the vehicle. You could try installing it in the center seat and have the top part of the Radian fan between the two front vehicle seats. Or you could have the Radian installed behind the passenger seat, but have no one sit in the front passenger seat until your baby gets some head control. When your infant is older, you can always used the angle adjuster by Diono to get the seat more upright.

You can always use the Chicco KeyFit 30 then get the Diono Radian later so you don't have to eat the dashboard. It is completely up to you =]

But I have to warn you- boosters can be difficult to buckle in a three across situation. You might get some scraped knuckles, but it is indeed do-able.

Also, if you do install in the outboard seating position for the infant seat, installing with the seat belt generally gives you more room. When installing it with the seat belt, the car seat can be scooted closer to the door. The seat just needs to be installed with less than an inch of movement. The KeyFit 30 has a built in lock-off to aid seat belt installs.

My best advice for you is to go to Toys R Us and try out car seats and different combinations. If you are installing a car seat in the center position in the back seat, LATCH cannot be used as they aren't reinforced in the center (unless your vehicle manual says specifically that they can be used in the center). The lower anchors on the side seating positions are connected by a metal bar; this is (usually) not found in the center.

Are you going to circumcise your baby boy?

Proud Momm

Why or why not?

Answer
No national or international medical association recommends routine circumcision.

No. It is a cosmetic surgery, medically unnecessary. It is extremely painful (see the video link at the end of my message). Genital Integriy, Intact Genitals, Rights to an Intact Body are for all.

If you are religious, "God Designed. Mother Approved. Revision is Circumcision"

Every baby boy on the planet is born with a foreskin and yet very few have them removed. The foreskin is a perfectly normal natural body part.

It is illegal to circumcise baby girls. Would you be asking this question if your baby is a girl? The answer is probably no. So, the answer to would "I amputate normal healthy body parts of my baby boy,at the risk of death, perform cosmetic elective surgery on my perfect newborn?" The answer is no.

Doctors tell you the amputated Lie when it comes to Circumcision. I beg you to learn the WHOLE TRUTH.

Every YEAR, more than 100 babies die from Circumcision. If this was a product, a toy, a crib, stroller, bottle for sale, on the market, for babies, it would have been recalled long ago.

Here is a video made by doctors for doctors on circumcision.

Here is a another link containing the actual surgical procedures of circumcision

www.NoCirc.org

•No national or international medical association recommends routine circumcision.

•Only the USA circumcises the majority of newborn boys without medical or religious reason.

•Medicalized circumcision began during the 1800s to prevent masturbation, which was believed to cause disease.

•Today's parents are learning that the foreskin is a normal, protective, functioning organ.

•Today's parents realize circumcision harms and has unnecessary risks.

•Circumcision denies a male's right to genital integrity and choice for his own body.

Girlfriends pregnant, advice please?

Tony

I've always said I've never wanted kids until I was atleast 30. Don't get me wrong I love kids but wanted to be set instead of struggling like my mom did (my dad got put in prison when I was 3). Well here I am 19 years old 2 months away from being 20 and my girlfriend told me that she's pregnant (she literally sent me a picture of the test then tested in front of me when I went over).

I'm honestly excited as can be but I still can't help but worry. We both agreed NO abortion/adoption this is OUR child.

How can I start preparing?
I already work at Food lion almost 40 hours a week. Along with willing to look for another. The mother is 18 working at Walmart and going to school.

What else can I do?

Advice

Answer
Your best. Your baby needs a stable home and the love of his/her parents. If you don't have an apartment you should get one, but the help of parents is always great, especially as an unprepared young couple. My son is 3 months and we're just getting settled and looking to purchase a help with his parent's help. Just make sure he/she has food, a place to stay, warmth. As I can tell you're doing great already. I'd recommend slowly stocking up while you can still afford it. Two boxes and an extra pack of diapers has kept me going so far. Perfect amount. Necessities - burp rags, washclothes, baby bath(unless you're using the sink), crib, infant toys (Not too important until about 3 months), diaper rash cream, infant tylenol/advil, gripe water, baby wipes, shmpoo, baby oil, baby brush (you'll need it for cradle cap) baby lotion, nail clipper, thermometer (most moms use rectal ones from 0-6 mo). I recommend making your own baby food - much cheaper - so get a baby bullet! A food processor works too. Dnt forget orajel he/she will be teething at 3 months!

17 and pregnant.....can I get any advice from parents??? ?

Kia

I literally just found out I am pregnant last week. I am 7 weeks and when my mom first found out she didn't take it well....AT ALL because honestly I am only 17.  Along with that I've done nothing in my life to really show her I'm responsible enough to handle a child.

I just recently got my drivers license and got a job at iHop. Both I don't really count that as showing her im responsible because both happened within the last month or so. My boyfriend is a little better than me because he has his license for the past 2 years but no job. He did just get a interview for mcDonalds.

For the first two days after my mom found out she was determined I was going to get a abortion or adoption. It was her choice NOT mine. But then she found out that that couldn't happen because she needed my signature too and I'll be damn if that happens because I'm a stern believer that God would not let something happen that I couldn't handle. Along with that I made the choice to have sex I need to take responsibility and grow up. Plus I always wanted children this just happened earlier than expected (No, I didn't plan it. Broke condom)

Well my mom finally accepted the fact that she can't do anything about it. So told me she isn't helping me with ANYTHING besides medical insurance because she can easily add him/her. Other than that me and him have to clean out the spare bedroom in my house that has nothing but boxes and junk and we are going to turn it into a baby room. Then as the months go on we are going to buy baby stuff to create the room because I make about 280 a week in tips and all together a 1000 a month give or take.

So I'm wondering what are some things we can do to prepare for this child? How can I go about buying things?

Advice would be GREAT PLEASE

Answer
One of the most responsible things you can do is sign up for prenatal classes, CPR classes including infant and child CPR, first aid classes, and parenting classes. Prenatal classes will help you determine what things you need to have when you bring your baby home. They will also teach you how to care for your new baby. Every parent with an infant should know CPR, because things can happen in an instant. If you know what to do, you are less likely to panic, and you are more likely to have a good outcome in an emergency. Parenting classes will teach you about ages and stages, and what your child needs from you as you meet those milestones together.

Don't stock up on things like diapers and formula. Just save the money. You know right away what your baby can tolerate. Babies often have to be switched around between brands due to sensitivities. Breast feeding is best and cheapest. However, you should not buy a breast pump until you have done a LOT of research. Also, do not skimp on a breast pump. The money you save breastfeeding makes up the cost, but a bad breast pump can interfere with your overall success. If you buy one, be sure you are prepared to stick with it. By law, the store can't take it back, even if it is unopened.

You probably won't even need to use a nursery for the first few months. Until your baby is sleeping through the night, it is better for everyone if the baby sleeps in your room with you. It makes late night feedings easier and less disruptive to evrryone's sleep. My son had a nursery, but I ended up with him sleeping in a basket next to my bed when he was a newborn.

Decorate your baby's nursery with soothing colors and keep it as uncluttered as possible. Too much stimulation in the nursery is not good for your baby. There is a time and place when stimulation is good. Bedtime and the nursery are not it. Keep toys to a minimum. Your baby will do little more than sleep, eat, and dirty diapers for a while. As he/she grows, do not let toys take over. Your child does not need more toys at one time than you can reasonably pick up in a couple of minutes. It is actually stressful for the baby to have too many choices, and toy clutter will cause accidents for a creeping or crawling infant, let alone a tripping hazard for a toddler. Make sure all toys are age appropriate.

Sleepers, gowns, onesies, and receiving blankets are what you will use most. Do not buy too much of anything in size 0-6 weeks. Your baby will outgrow those things swiftly. A couple of nice outfits in that size will be sufficient. Most of the time a gown or sleeper is more appropriate. A couple of bathsets with hooded towel will be all you really need for bathing. You will be doing laundry frequently anyway. I recommend buying a couple dozen cloth diapers, even if you plan to use disposable. They are handy for lots of purposes. If you think you will use cloth diapers, get a diaper service. It's totally worth it.

How do I create a title tag?

LAURALEE S

Answer
The title tag is located at the topmost part of your website's code.

Here's an example of a title tag from Target.com --it is placed after the <html><head> codes of your site

<html>
<head>
<title>Welcome to Target</title>
<META name="description" content="Expect More, Pay Less at Target.com, the official Target online retail site. Shop the latest in Women, Men, Baby, Kids, Home, Bed+Bath, Furniture, Sports, Toys, Electronics, Health and See All. Check out current deals and promotions, and the Weekly Ad, too.">

There are a number of websites that can help you create your metatags including title tag. Here are examples

http://www.seologic.com/webmaster-tools/meta-tag-generator.php
http://www.free-webmaster-tools.com/Meta-Tag-Generator.htm

The title tag is very important -- it needs to have the right keywords that you want to rank high in the search engines while keeping the balance of allowing users to know at first glance what the site is all about. Google in fact uses the title tags in their search engine listings

For example, here's the #1 site that ranks for the keyword "family facts" -- note that the site's title tag contains this very same phrase

WHAT THE GOOGLE SEARCH RESULTS SHOW:

Family Facts: Social Science Research on Family, Society & Religion
Sponsored by the Heritage Foundation, this site presents findings on the family, society and religion from peer-reviewed journals, books and government ...

THE SITE'S TITLE TAGS

<html>
<head>
<title>Family Facts: Social Science Research on Family, Society & Religion</title>

Search engines will pick up your title tags so think carefully of how you will phrase your title tag in such a way that it will have the right combination of keywords you want to rank for your site in the search engines

Q. My baby is turning 6 months in a few days. What is a typical day for a 6 month old? How do you spend time with them, how to you help them learn, how do they play, what things do they do? What is a healthy fun learning day for a 6 month old?

Answer
•Always look your baby directly in the eye when talking and interacting with him. Studies have shown that this assists language development and it can also help with discipline as your child becomes older!
•Support your baby emotionally when encountering strangers or new surroundings - let him warm up slowly if he is experiencing stranger anxiety. This encourages your baby to develop a happy and trusting view of the world
•Offer a variety of toys such as blocks, rattles, stacking toys, and books so your baby can practice developing her fine motor skills with his hands.
•Your baby most likely wants to put everything in his mouth. Provide plenty of safe, easy to clean toys for him to do this.
•Place interesting toys just out of reach to encourage your baby to move towards them. You can do this when your baby is sitting or on his tummy.
•Provide toys which make sounds when moved or squeezed as your baby is learning about cause and effect at this age
•As your baby begins to be confident at sitting he will want to grab at interesting objects. Make sure there are a few books and toys within easy reach so he can practice this skill
•Now that he is becoming more confident at grasping objects his hand-eye coordination will also improve. He will now be able to hold a toy and take a good long look at it by twisting and turning it in his hand. Provide a variety of toys which are easily held in his small hands.
•Babies love bubbles. By blowing bubbles he will improve his hand-eye coordination as he reaches out to pop them with his hands
•At this age babies also enjoy pop up toys. These toys also help develop strength and coordination in his arms.

Here are some questions that i wish you would be willing to answer about your infant. Just explain if you agree or not. Also if you could put what age your child was.

Thanks in advance

·Sits unaided- spends more time in upright position
·May be able to crawl
·May be able to climb stairs
·Develops eye-hand coordination
·Prefers primary caregivers
·May cry when strangers approach
·Commonly exhibits anxiety when parent or caregiver leaves
·Pats own reflection in the mirror
·May push away things not wanted (e.g., bottle, toys)
·Begins to “play” with adults
·Babbles to himself or herself
·Puts everything in mouth
·Solves simple problems (e.g., will move obstacles aside to reach object)
·Transfers from hand to hand
·Responds to changes in environment and is able to repeat actions that cause change (e.g., sound of rattle)
·Drops objects repeatedly
·Fascinated with small objects
·Begins to respond to words

These are three theories. Please tell me which on u agree withand why

Freud’s first stage of psychosexual development is the oral stage, which lasts from birth to about 15 months. In this stage, the id, which contains all the basic needs and feelings, is dominant. The ego, the rational part of the mind, is under formation due to the development of body image and delay of gratification. Body image is developed as the infant realizes that the body is distinct from the outer world. The infant also gradually realizes that gratification is not immediate and that it has to produce certain behaviors to initiate actions that lead to gratification. The key experience in this stage is weaning, which leads to the child’s first feeling of loss, and the baby’s awareness of self. Success during this stage leads to the formation of independence and trust, whereas too much or too little gratification can lead to an immature or passive personality.

Erick Erickson’s theory states that children from 0-12 months of age are in stage one of psychosocial development. This stage is called the oral sensory stage. Erickson believes that neonates at this stage can experience Trust or Mistrust. Trust meaning infants live through and love through their mouths. In the trust stage parents will respond to the infants needs with consistency and continuity, infants believe the world is a safe place. Mistrust can occur with parents who are overly protective; child will be overly trusting and gullible. Child cannot believe that anyone would harm them

Piaget is best known for his cognitive development theory. The first scheme of his theory is the Sensorimotor and this scheme is divided into four different stages 0-12 months. During this scheme Piaget believes that infants develop their primary circular reactions such as sucking, staring, listening, ad grasping objects during the first six months. From 6-12 months Piaget has called this stage the secondary circular reactions. This is where the infant is more aware of objects and people. The infant will also respond to the object or person.

Answer
Which I agree with and why? I believe that all three have truth to them and all are valid. As a general rule I tend to agree more with Piaget's theories (for infants as well as older children). His theory seems to be the most balanced and insightful with out trying to impose any other theory on top of it. Like I said, though, I do believe that all three views contain truth.

Freud is correct that too much or too little gratification can lead to an immature or passive personality, and that the id is the primary driving force for an infant. Freud is almost always, especially in this case, incorrect about a development of body image and the focus of the child being just on gratification. Since all of Freud's theories stem from an idea of gratification, though, it makes sense for him that he says this.

Erickson is correct that infants can and do experience trust and mistrust. Mistrust also occurs, however, when an infant's needs are not met (example: feeding on a schedule instead of demand, CIO).

Piaget's theory is focused primarily on fact, not in interpreting those facts, and he is correct.

I'm 14 and i got a 13 year old pregnant?

Brandon

I'm 14, i had sex with my 13 year old best friend who is a girl, i asked if i should do it or not on here a couple week ago, most people said i shouldn't, I'm sorry i didn't listen to those guys :'( someone please help what should i do should i tell my parents??? Can i get arrested because we're underage? She wants to keep the baby, but that means i will loose my education looking after it please help me

Answer
No you can't get arrested at least not in the US if one were an adult and the other a minor it would be different but the law is the least of your worries just hope her father doesn't shoot you. Hope she doesn't call rape. You will not lose your education looking after the baby, see your high school guidance counselor for information on what you can do. As the father you actually have no say she can literally abort your baby and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it. I found out from the bottom website that you do have a right if paternity is established to prevent a third party adoption but you need legal representation. As for what to tell your parents. Tell them the truth. Come up with a plan first how much is it going to cost to feed, clothe, and childcare for the baby. How will you finish your education, get your guidance counselors help? Your childhood is officially over even if she aborts or the baby is given up for adoption or miscarries you will never be the same ever again there is no easy way out and no way out. Best case scenario Clothes $5.00 a bag prior seasons clothes thrift store in the spring or maybe the charity will have compassion on you and give you what you need. $10.00 yard sale play yard to sleep baby. $6.00 for 30 off brand disposable diapers think 60 diapers a week, or go cloth if babysitter. daycare is willing to use. Baby wash 1 tsp baking soda to 8 oz water. Baby safe detergent use homemade detergent (1 bar grated soap dissolved in 5 gal hot water) and vinegar to soften, clean, disnfect and remove odors recipies on line. Blend your own baby food or go on WIC they will provide you with formula.
Stay off the drugs (both to keep parental rights and to get into the military) graduate high school at an accelerated rate by age 17 and join the military family housing allowance free insurance (does not include dental) food allowance and clothing allowance it isn't a glamorous job and you will still qualify for food stamps but your family will be taken care of. You need at the very minimum 5 sets of clothes per baby per 3, 6, 12, 24 and 36 month size and at least two warm sweaters or something. 24-36 month shirt is a newborn night gown and size 2 capris are 6 month pants cause of the diaper difference when you change to panties. You can get these clothes from a charity or a friend sho's kid outgrew it. Toys will be the least of your worries the only toys they really need are a binky and hard rubber teething ring, they love to play with non toys like matching socks and stacking measuring cups. The best infant soother out there is the womb sounds bear which you should give your child even if given up for adoption because it reminds them of the comfort of the womb and will be the only piece of you that s/he will have. You and the baby and best friend will qualify fro food stamps and WIC and clothing programs by charities. Your baby momma will need at least two maternity outfits one dress and one pair pants. Maybe her dress and shirts will stretch with her. Ask a relative like your grandmother if she can sit for you for nothing. I was older when I got pregnant before marriage and I know how tough it can be telling Dad and Mom first develop your own plan and then get your parents in on it and listen to their plan. You have a right to keep your child. And you can finish school I am 30 with three kids and I am still in college and I graduate next spring it is tough but not impossible. I owe all my financial stability to the military and I recommend that you join. You don't have to make a career out of it but it will set you on your feet financially and help you provide for your kid. Medicaid will cover all pre and post natal appointments and the birth.

Do a smart person have a bigger brain or is it the same as normal people's brain?

best toys for infant brain development image
Q. For example, the normal people's work is about average but the smart person is too smart and always score 100 points but does that mean that the smart person have a bigger brain?

Answer
No, size in humans does not have much to do with intelligence. Rather it is the percentage of the brain actually used by the individual. Most people only use 30-31% of their brain for thinking functions. Smarter people use slightly more than that (though not much!). Intelligence also has to do with exposure during the infant and toddler periods. The period of time when language develops is the most crucial to brain development. Studies of "wild children" have confirmed this. Infants and young children who are more stimulated through a multitude of activities, using all of the 5 senses, are usually more intelligent. This is why doctors advocate colorful rooms, and playing music to infants, as well as toys with multiple textures and shapes.

Do you need license to keep a capuchin monkey as a pet? Ireland?

Sammy

What documents are needed?

Answer
PLEASE don't do it. Whether it's legal or not, it's a horrible idea to keep any monkey as a pet. There are quite a few reasons for this. They're sound reasons but they are hard to accept for people who really, really want a monkey (which in a way is understandable because they ARE fascinating and beautiful!). But facts are facts and people who genuinely care about animals (and their own safety!) have to accept that it is not in the best interest of a monkey to be kept as a pet.

It's NOT safe for people. Even small monkeys can be very dangerous. They are all incredibly strong for their size, have powerful jaws and big canines. Monkeys are wild, not domesticated animals (this is not a matter of whether they were captive bred or not - domestication is a biological process that takes place over hundreds of generations, and this simply has not happened with any monkey). Being wild, they have a tendency to be unpredictable - to ACT like wild animals - whether they have been trained or not. This happens more and more often as they grow older and when they start to approach adulthood - look out! Pet monkeys can and regularly do injure people, often disfiguring or disabling them for life. Do a bit more searching around the internet. These stories pop up in the news on a fairly regular basis. Sometimes people remove the monkeys' canines or drug them to try to make them "safe". Is this the right thing to do for a wild animal?

It's not appropriate for monkeys either. Monkeys are extremely social animals and being part of a social group is nearly as essential for their psychological well-being as having food or water or space to move around in. When people keep monkeys as pets, the monkeys are taken as infants from their mothers - years before they would naturally become independent. This is not just a little bit sad. It is scientifically proven that maternal deprivation can actually hinder proper brain development - and also that monkeys hand-reared by humans frequently (possibly always) develop severe psychological abnormalities that are sometimes impossible to correct in later life. No matter how much a person WANTS to be a good substitute for a monkey mother, it just does not work, and it has negative consequences for the monkey. Why would a person inflict that on another creature that they supposedly care about? It's really very selfish and yes - cruel.

To keep a monkey is very expensive, and some species can live into their 50s. Who can guarantee consistent, quality care for that kind of time span?

And on that note... consistent, quality care is in itself almost impossible for a pet owner to provide. Monkeys in the wild spend all day, every day travelling, climbing, leaping, foraging, grooming one another in a vast and complex tropical habitat. They need the right temperature, the right food, the right humidity, and without these things they can (and often do) develop serious health issues, like diabetes or metabolic bone disease. How is a person expected to provide all these things to a monkey living in their home?

Please don't believe the half-truths and full-on lies that people with an interest in keeping pet monkeys tend to spread around. They are all based on wilful ignorance, selfishness, and have nothing to do with genuine love of monkeys as amazing, intelligent wild animals. Monkeys deserve to have natural lives in the habitats that they have adapted to over thousands of years, and to make choices about their own lives. They are not little servants or dolls or toys, or even cats or dogs. Nobody wants to take any "rights" away from people concerning what they can or can not own - but monkeys are not THINGS that you should have a right to own! They are living, conscious, emotional wild animals. People need to learn how to respect this!

What are some things to think about before having a baby?

Mara

I'm trying to make a list of "problems" and "solutions" - just some things to think about before we have a baby to make sure we are as prepared as we can be. Not big things like financials, more like obstacles along the way.

Such as, traveling by plane with a baby, going grocery shopping with a baby, how to find a baby sitter while traveling etc etc.

Answer
Take the baby with you. My guys are 7 months old I've never had a baby sitter.

You need 2 people. One makes money, one watches the child. The one who watches the child spends all day with the child. They can be mom, dad, a nanny, a daycare provider, grandma whoever. The one who makes money preferably is not the same one, and not the government either.

My guys are easy. We don't take planes, we drive. I put the infant seats on the grocery cart. They like it and will sit back for hours just babbling and smiling. There are babysitters from Craig's list, but I don't use them. When we visit grandparents I might take off for awhile leaving them with grandma. Otherwise their dad watches them, but those outtings are rare. I like bringing my little sidekicks with me places.

I don't find it that difficult, except that we are short 1 income, so finances are tight. The world is made for babies.

We followed an eat-play-sleep schedule so that "jump up at every cry" thing was not true for us. That said, I spent 11 hours a day breastfeeding alone. Then another 4+ doing diaper changes etc. And that is all broken up time. I got 15m out of every 2h to get things done, and 3h of sleep per 24 hours.

By 9 weeks they slept 8 hours straight at night, and now at 7 months they sleep 11 hours straight and take 3 hours of naps during the day, so lots of time for sleep / housework / play. And they like shopping and car rides and stroller rides. We have taken them to restaurants, they just gawk at everything. Today we went to take the car to the shop. We had to wait about 2 hours and they just played with a couple of toys and had bottles in their car seats / stroller.

Should i be worried about my 16 month old?

My daughter is 16 months old and says mama, dada, dowa (dora), bah pah (backpack) , mahp (map), cup (tup), and ipah(diaper). And that's it. She understands almost evrything that you tell her and points at things; ie nose, mama's face, pretty eyes.. so on and so forth but most of the time she doesn't seem to want to talk, should i be worried about this?

I read at a parenting website that most gilrs her age should say about 70 words and understand over a hundred.

Answer
What parenting website would that be? That's insane!

By 12 to 15 months

Children this age should have a wide range of speech sounds in their babbling and at least one or more true words (not including "mama" and "dada"). Nouns usually come first, like "baby" and "ball." Your child should also be able to understand and follow single directions ("Please give me the toy," for example).
From 18 to 24 months

Children should have a vocabulary of about 20 words by 18 months and 50 or more partial words by the time they turn 2. I recently bought my daughter a Fisher-Price Stack 'n Surprise Blocks Songs 'n Smiles Sillytown. I got it on sale at Toys R Us about a month ago for $25. My husband brought it to his mom's house for our daughter to play with while she stayed over there for a couple hours, and her cousin took all of the pieces to his house and lost them. She now only has 3 blocks left! The cheapest price I found for this toy was $68 on amazon, and all I need is a couple of blocks. I checked ebay, nothing! This toy is completely out of stock everywhere and probably discontinued! Will I be able to find replacement blocks anywhere??

Answer
Yes the set was discontinued in 2010. If you visit the Fisher Price web page for this particular toy, on the right hand side, there will be a shopping cart. Select United States in the drop down menu. http://service.mattel.com/us/product_detail.asp?id=T3174&Ntt=T3174&Pn=1&Brand=Fisher-Price+Infant+Toys&Cat=Stack+'n+Surprise+Blocks

Then on the shopping page, select Baby Gear under Fisher Price. Then select Infant Toys. Then select Other Infant Toys. Then select Stack N Surprise Blocks Peek A Boo Choo Choo. You can purchase replacement blocks that are compatible with all Stack N Surprise toys. They run $9 a set. Hopefully this direct link will work, but if not, I hope my directions above explain how to get there. https://store.mattel.com/CatalogBrowser.aspx?cmd=local&cat=140&sec=9761

Please help.. My 14 months old daughter is delayed, autism?

Eyecandy77

My 14 months old daughter is delayed in her social skills and fine motor skills. She is not waiving, not clapping, not pointing, not self feeding. She will sometimes show where my eyes are or mouth, when I ask her, and she will look at a picture on the wall when I ask where the picture is. But she rarely pays any attention to me or anyone else. She loves to play with all her toys, but she doesn't do anything repeatedly (like pushing the same button over and over). When I talk to her or ask her something she ignores me, and continues to do what she was doing like playing with her toy or watching tv. When she watches her cartoons and I get in front of her to get her attention she completely ignores me like I'm a see-through ghost. I'm worried sick.. Has anyone had a kid who was delayed in these areas (waiving, paying attention to mommy, pointing etc), and now are older and normal? Or is she for sure has an autism. I've convinced myself that she does and can't stop panicing. I will make an apt with the neurologist tomorrow, and I was told by an Early Intervention program that she is significantly delayed in her social skills and fine motor skills such as picking up small cereal and putting them in her mouth. (she doesn't do that at all). She seems like normal happy baby to me, she loves it when I sing to her, she looks directly at me into my eyes when I sing, or when I do silly games. She loves pikaboo games and runs to me on her walker when I call her all excited. But when I talk to her most of the time ignores me. I would love to hear from someone who went through this and their kid turned out fine. Some words of encouragement also would help :( thank you so much. I am so afraid of what the neurologist would say. It seems like 100% of normal kids do all these things. If I can just find one who didn't do these things and turned out normal, I could breath just a little easier. Thanks again!
About vaccines etc.. We are on dr. Sears vaccine schedules and we haven't even gotten everything she needs. So I really don't think this could be from vaccines we are being very careful about them.

Answer
You are right to be concerned, but don't worry about this until you have done some homework and researched the issue. There is a wonderful web site you can visit to see the symptoms and what is being done to not only help autistic children but what can be done to prevent it.

Go to: www.childhoodshots.com

Mary Tocco has been researching vaccines for 30 years and has a volume of information on this subject. Her daughter, Rene Tocco, is the doctor that has dedicated her practice to AUTISM and that is the web site above. Many of the problems children are having today are a result of what is being done to the children in doctor's offices and the food they are eating and the lack of information on good breast feeding, etc.

Become educated, not indoctrinated.

EDIT: NO child needs ANY vaccine. It is a very well known documented fact that children who do not get vaccinated are far healthier and grow up much more healthy. Believe what you will about vaccines, but those promoting it is relying on indoctrination and distortion of the facts, not educated facts.

EDIT: Here's a wonderful article for you to read to get a better in depth understanding of why vaccines are causing many of the problems your child is experiencing.

http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2010/11/01/flu-vaccine-and-its-side-effects.aspx

Dr. Sears is just spreading the poisons over longer time between getting the poison injections. Infants and babies should NOT be receiving these injections at all. Look at the evidence to learn the truth. Pediatricians were invented to inject poisons and nothing more. The well baby visits is just an injection party, nothing more.

If you are still in doubt about this, watch Dr. Maurice Hilleman that was the Number 1 vaccine expert, researcher, and developer of over 40 popular vaccines talk about the "Bargain Basement Technology" vaccines are in this confidential interview:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edikv0zbAlU

Now watch this video showing the probity of the Bayer Pharmaceutical that makes aspirin for the world and how they view PROFIT over HEALTH:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wg-52mHIjhs&feature=related

Is it no wonder the public has started to reject what these guys are promoting?

Drug companies would have you believe their technology saved the world of disease, but nothing is farther from the truth. Look at this study on small pox that drug companies tell you they eradicated:

http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2000/12/31/smallpox-vaccine-part-one.aspx

http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2000/12/31/smallpox-vaccine2.aspx

Babies are being damaged by these corporations that are promoting this farce. BIG MONEY is being made by them. In fact drug companies make 5 times the profit of any U.S. corporation and politicians get a huge amount of this. This is why the recent Health Care Law funnels so much money directly to them. Both Republicans and Democrats are to blame and the public is getting the booby prize. And the worst part is that children are the victims.

good luck to you

Are their developmental milestones for babies?

el

I know all babies develop at their own pace, but I wanted to know round about ages for certain goals. Such as, first words, crawling, walking, sitting up, first tooth. Also are there ways to help them with their words?

Answer
Yep, every baby achieves or reaches different milestones at different ages.

here is a couple great websites that you can read through about what to look for during certain months (ages) on what they should be doing:
http://www.emedicinehealth.com/infant_milestones/article_em.htm

http://www.med.umich.edu/1libr/yourchild/devmile.htm

Developmental Milestones: According to the
Early Learning Accomplishment Profile Assessment.

The following is a list of major milestones in baby's first year of life. This is meant to be a general guide, but keep in mind that all babies develop at different rates. If you have concerns that your baby's physical development is lagging behind, please consult your pediatrician.

Pushing Up: 4 to 5 months
As your newborn gains better head control, he will begin to push up and fully extend his arms. Babies spend the first six months of life gaining control of their posture, which sets the stage for more advanced motor skills.

Reaching and Grasping: 4 to 5 months
As a newborn's reflexes begin to disappear around 3 to 4 months, he'll use both hands to grasp for objects and have more control. The Palmer reflex, baby's clenched fist that waved spontaneously, has disappeared.

Rolling Over: 4 to 6 month
By six months of age, baby can roll over both ways.

Sitting Up: 6 to 7 months
By six months of age baby is sitting up or getting ready to do so as his back straightens out and strengthens. He is also able to pass a toy from one hand to another. By nine months baby has mastered sitting to the point of twisting and turning in place.

Crawling: 7 to 9 months
By nine months of age baby can move forward in some way whether it's creeping, crawling or scooting on his bottom.

Standing: 7 to 9 months
Some babies as early as six months of age can pull to stand.

Walking: 9 to 18 months
The average baby walks a month or two into his second year of life.

Climbing and Pushing: 18 to 24 months
At this age, toddlers have mastered walking to the point of climbing and pushing objects. A toddler can also carry things as he walks.

Dance and Dress: Age Two
Toddlers at this age love to dance, clapping their hands and tapping their feet to the rhythm. A toddler can also get himself out of his car seat and may prefer running to walking. He can also assist in dressing himself and can climb up and down stairs by himself.

Mental Milestones:
The following is a list of cognitive milestones in baby's first year.

Newborn to Three Months:

Remembers objects that disappear and reappear.
Can discriminate among different voices.
Can tune out stimulus at will.
Six to Nine Months:

Likes to imitate.
Babbles one syllable.
Knows his name and some words associated with familiar objects.
Understands the concept of object permanence, when things disappear from sight they may be there just concealed by something else.
12 to 18 Months:

Understands the meaning of some words and commands.
Has increased attention span.
Imitates activities.
Searches for hidden objects.
Uses five to 10 words.
Remembers past events for longer periods.
18 to 24 Months:

Engages in imaginary or pretend play.
Can follow two step commands.
Can put words together.
Can identify pictures in a book.

My 16-month old still uses the infant-toddler bath, and I like it because it contains him a little better, it's cleaner, and doesn't use as much water. He seems like he's getting a little cramped though, so I'm just wondering at what age others transfer to the big tub for baths.

Answer
This is a preference thing much more than anything else. As soon as you or he is ready, go for it! And at 16 months he can sit up, and should be walking so no fear of him sliding into the water readily. If he and you are ready switch, and if you're worried that he may not like it, let him splash more with the bubbles, maybe try a new boat toy. Something new that he can associate with switching to the bigger bath, to make it more fun and an easier switch.
Myself, I never used a baby bath, just the bath tub itself, I started out climbing in with my daughter and holding her while i bathed her and let her kick and splash and it became easier when she could sit up and play more. Then at a year we introduced the shower-head for more fun! And it's worked great, my daughter takes both baths and showers since the age of 3, now at 5 she cleans better than my husband some days :)
{Try the tub-stickers, the ones you put on the bottom of the shower to give more grib when you stand. They even come in cute fishy designs, so slipping is less of a worry as well. They should give you more confidence in letting him sit up and play in the big tub.}
Good luck!

Is is normal for a baby to hate baths?

Katrina Ba

My daughter is 3 months old and she screams every time I put her in the tub. I've tried bath toys, a toy that blows bubbles, bubble baths, putting her in the tub with me, making the water warmer and cooler and nothing seems to help. I've even tried 3 different infant tubs. It's gotten to the point that I dread giving her a bath and I don't know what to do. Any advise? Will she grow out of it and if so, when?

Answer
Being in water is a very different experience. Just give her a sponge bath for now, that usually does the trick unless she's very dirty. Some babies and older kids, just don't like the water.

Book bulkhead seats. (Assuming you’re flying economy.) These are seats that sit directly behind the bulkheads (dividers) on the plane, usually just behind business class. They offer a lot more legroom, and you usually get the option of booking a bassinet (see below). Plus your little one can crawl around a bit on the floor in front of you.
Book a bassinet. These attach to the bulkhead in front of the seat. They’re usually fairly small but your baby can lie with their legs over the end if necessary. Even if the baby doesn’t sleep in it, it provides a great place to stash the 3 tons of stuff you end up with (books, magazines, blankets, pillows, food trays, water, toys, …)
Be aware of liquid restrictions for air travel. There are exceptions for baby food and so on, but you still need to stick within certain limits. Find out more information on this Australian site.
Take your own baby food on the flight. Your baby will prefer familiar food. Although many airlines offer baby food in-flight, your baby may not like what’s available, and the food often has additives such as sugar and salt, too. Bananas are always a good standby when flying.
Give your baby something to drink after take-off and before landing. This will help with their ear pain as the pressure changes. Breastfeeding is great and has the added benefit of comforting. Water does the job too.
Have a stopover. If you’re flying from Australia to the UK, a stopover does help to break up the journey, but make sure it’s at least 2 nights or it’s not worth the hassle.
Be prepared for jet-lag. It’s worse when you have a baby! You can forget about having those blissful few hours’ sleep as soon as you arrive, as the little darling will have different ideas. You’ll be spending those first few hours trying to stop him or her bawling their head off. Also your baby will be waking up at 3am for the first few nights, thinking it’s the middle of the day. Very entertaining. The best strategy I can offer is: be prepared for this emotionally, and know that it will be OK after a few days.

Any suggestions on traveling with infant on a plane?

I will be traveling ALONE with my 10 months old son for a 15 hours non-stop flight very soon. Any suggestions on how i can make it easier on myself and on him? I heard about the sucking bottle when take off and land to avoid his ear popping. The travel agent booked us the very last row. but then I heard that the best is the bulk head. I am not sure having a big screen in front of me and my baby though. He crawls everywhere. Not yet walking by himself. What do i do to entertain him? Can I bring a electronic toys on board? Is there any traveling gear that I should bring with me? I will have a travel system stroller and the car seat with me. I am afriaid it will be really tough when we get to the screening. Just a bit nervous since I will be going alone. That's a long flight too. Please help.

Is My baby can read worth the hassle?

So my grandma is stuck on getting this for my Nephew. He just turned 1. I have read quite a few reviews where it doesn't work, some I've read where it worked pretty good. Should we really get it for him or buy more educational toys?

Answer
If you let your child do this they will have 200+ hours of screen time in 9 months or something. Don't buy "educational toys" spend time playing with and reading to your child. that is how they learn not from a toy.

Research has linked infant screen time to sleep disturbances and delayed language acquisition, as well as problems in later childhood, such as poor school performance and childhood obesity. If parents follow Your Baby Can Read’s viewing instructions, their baby will have watched more than 200 hours by the age of nine months—spending more than one full week of 24-hour days in front of a screen. Meanwhile, the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends no screen time for children under age two.

The last thing babies need is to be drilled with flash cards and to watch videos. It’s particularly worrisome that screen time takes away from the two activities known to be educational—time with caring adults and hands-on creative play. Babies learn in the context of loving relationships, and with all of their senses. Yet, 19% of babies under the age of one have a television in their bedroom and 40% of 3-month-olds are regular viewers of television. And we all know that screen time is habituating. The more time babies spend with screens, the harder it is for them to turn them off when they’re older.

How can I go green with raising my infant?

SayWhat?

How can I go green with raising my infant?
Glass bottles instead of plastic,
organic and petro free baby lotion, soap, etc
organic clothing and bedding,
wood floors in nursery,
cloth diapers.......WHAT ELSE? Thank you for your ideas!

Answer
Making your own baby food is a good one. That way your baby gets all the nutrition you get in mashed form. I use a KidCo food mill. You put the food in, crank the handle and baby eats what you eat for meals. It was a $13 investment that saved tons in baby food and you get to know exactly what baby gets.

Also instead of cloth diapers you could look into g-diapers. They have a website and are also sold at places like Whole Foods. They are a cross between a cloth and a disposable however instead of throwing away the diaper you flush a biodegradable insert down the toilet and wash out the outer shell. They have no pins and use velcro on the back so baby can't take off his or her own diaper.

And instead of wipes you could buy a box-o-rags that you re-use by cleaning with bleach or a natural cleaning agent (Shaklee makes a great one). You cut them into smaller pieces and dampen them when you have poopy diapers. They are usually recycled from old t-shirts so they aren't a rough fabric and very cost effective.

Getting fabrics that are made of soy, bamboo, or other natural replenishing fibers are not only safer but usually softer and last longer.

If you don't already have wood floors in your nursery, look for a demolition in your area of maybe a school, church or the like and ask about getting your wood from them. School gyms and churches usually have old wood floors full of charm and character and most often this stuff goes to the dump.

Buying wood toys (such as Melissa and Doug items) ensures your baby has child-safe yet fun, educational toys that aren't full of plastic and batteries.

One last thing I can think of. When storing baby food or breastmilk, buy cases of Mason jars. This eliminates the use of plastic ice cube trays (for freezing food), tupperware, and Saran wrap. The jars come in all sorts of sizes and are less expensive that Glad-ware in the long run.

How can I decorate a nursery for a toddler boy and an infant girl?

I know that the most obvious stuff is ocean/tropical, or barnyard/jungle themes, but my house is modern and my husband and I thrive on all things monochromatic and clean lines.. My baby boy's nursery is baby blue and brown. The childlike accent thrown in is a few fluffy sheep:). We are expecting a baby girl next year and only have one room available to serve as the nursery.. any ideas?

Answer
I am really attracted the the new baby colors of pink and brown. Since the boy's room is already blue and brown, could you put some accents on her side of the room that are pink and brown?

Also, you could find a pink sheep, or tie a pink bow on a sheep.

Has anyone ever traveled really long distances with their infant?

Just call

I am moving, and the drive is a total of 1300 miles. It's an 18 hour drive WITHOUT stops. I have a 6 month old boy. I am really nervous about the ride. Anybody have any advice or tips?
He is a really good boy, and sleeps most of the time in the car anyway, but I am so nervous.

Answer
Well I didn't go that far with mine, only 8 hours, but we just stopped every few hours or so & walked around for a few minutes so we could all get a break from the car. We fed her in her car seat then took her out to burp and as soon as she did, we put her right back in. (We stopped, didn't take her out while driving). I really didn't make that much of a difference stopping like that because it was only for a few minutes when she ate, which was every couple of hours. We also took alot of toys, light up ones, loud ones, etc. to keep her busy and one of us sat in the back with her. Really the only advice I can give is to stop & get out every now & then so your little boy can get some time out of his seat.

Answer
Some kind of stuffed toy that has things to open, flaps to lift, someting hidden uder a door ..

is it me or do some infant toys look oddly familiar to dog toys?

bizzurke

some of my sons toys look exactly like dog toys. its kind of odd to me lol. these are toys that have been given to me though, i wouldnt buy him something that looks like it could be for a dog.

has anybody else noticed this though?
and how do you keep the dog from getting your infants toys when he/she is playing on the floor?

Answer
Yes a lot of them are practically interchangeable. Another thing that I think is funny is that both dogs and babies are greatly rewarded for learning to roll over. It strikes me as funny when I am cheering for my son to roll over.

Hi everyone!

My son will be almost 5 months when it's Halloween. What are some costume ideas that him & I could do together? Thanks!! :)

Answer
You could do something from Toy story. He could be woody:

http://www.halloweenandcostumes.com/p-1626-toy-story-and-beyond-woody-infant-costume.aspx

And you could be Jessie. Check these two out

http://www.halloweenandcostumes.com/p-3801-toy-story-jessie-classic-adult-costume.aspx

http://www.halloweenandcostumes.com/p-1411-toy-story-2-jessie-adult-costume.aspx

If you don't like that idea, you can find a lot of other 0 to 6 month costumes here:

This way you can look at what is available and team something up with you.
