Definition: A person who is outside of the targeted demographic who likes the show My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.


Here is a little history.

1980: Started out as a toy line called My Pretty Pony. Was eventually bought by Hasbro.

1981: Generation 1 of My Little Pony. Some films and took place in a fantasy setting. There was also a film where the setting was in a modern city. A standard girl's show at the time.

1990s: Generation 2 didn't have a dedicated TV series or films but only had a toy line (although some consider the TV series near the end of G1's time to be part of G2)

2003: Generation 3 starts. The absolute epitome of what is "girly" in a stereotypical definition. Everything was girly, plot was absolutely horrible, and was definitely meant for girls who were of a very young age. Art direction wasn't very good either.

2009: Hasbro decided to rehash the Generation 3 characters and had some design changes. This was called Generatioin 3.5. Just like Generation 3, this was the epitome of pain and misery.

Late 2009: Hasbro decided to create a new version called newborn cuties. Animation was an abomination, characters were an abomination, nonexistent plot, and would lower your IQ. If Generation 3.5 was considered pain and misery, then I don't know what to call this one.

(Generation 3, 3.5, and newborn cuties are all considered to be the worst of all My Little Pony incarnations).


THEN...........

Hasbro and Discovery Kids eventually formed a joint venture television channel called THE HUB. Hasbro wanted to capitalize on the franchises they've owned (such as Strawberry Shortcake, Transformers, and My Little Pony).

When developing the fourth generation of My Little Pony, Hasbro confronted Lauren Faust and asked her what she could do with the franchise. Lauren Faust is known for working on The Powerpuff Girls and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends.

They were able to get very respected people of the cartoon industry such as Daniel Ingram (music) and animators who have worked on Samurai Jack and a bunch of others. There are also very highly talented voice actors in the show such as Tara Strong and Tabitha St. Germaine. If anything, the 4th generation of My Little Pony has a very large production value.

On October 2010, Hasbro launched the pilot episodes of the 4th generation called "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic." Many reviews praised the show saying that the show was actually very enjoyable to watch for the entire family. Of course, there were those such as the review by AMID that said seeing names such as Lauren Faust in the credits was a white flag of defeat. He says how disappointing it is to see such people in the credits because he says cartoons have become nothing more than marketing ploys to sell toys. This caught the attention of the cartoon board of 4chan. Most made image macros as a joke of MLP, but as some people watched a few episodes, some actually really liked it.

And so, from the depths of 4chan, Bronies (bro+pony) were born.

How do I deal with people hyper-genderizing about my baby?

I recently attended a party with my five month old daughter, and the other guests could not stop talking about what an extreme "girl" she was. It was fine at first - I mean, yes, she IS a girl - but it got to the point where no one was mentioning anything else. "What a girl she is! No one would mistake her for a boy! Look at those petite shoulders! Look at that face!" This went on and on. Worse, when she started touching the arm of another baby - a boy, who didn't mind, nor did his mother - others started saying, "What a forward female! Watch out for her!" I am confident that my daughter was NOT touching the boy out of any romantic feeling; she shows similar interest in little girls.

I just smiled through most of this, occasionally acknowledging, "Yes, she is a girl," but as she gets older, I don't want her to think that her primary characteristic is that of being a stereotypical "girl." How could I defuse this in future situations?

I know exactly what you mean!

I don't have any biological children, but hyper-gendered speech and actions to the children I care for (as a foster carer) is so strong at times that I dress all the newborns and small babies in neutral clothes and just say "I can't say the gender...". (We have had to hide children's gender before if they had a parent who was violent and prone to tracking their children down).

You could start with more neutral clothing.

What all your friends are doing is- unknowingly- reinforcing the stereotypes of femininity that society has taught us. There's not much to do about it, except maybe dressing your girl in the "boy's" clothes occasionally (or at least around these people) and giving her a mix of "boy" and "girl" toys. Which isn't a bad idea anyway.

No. It is a cosmetic surgery, medically unnecessary. It is extremely painful (see the video link at the end of my message). Genital Integriy, Intact Genitals, Rights to an Intact Body are for all.

Every baby boy on the planet is born with a foreskin and yet very few have them removed. The foreskin is a perfectly normal natural body part.

It is illegal to circumcise baby girls. Would you be asking this question if your baby is a girl? The answer is probably no. So, the answer to would "I amputate normal healthy body parts of my baby boy,at the risk of death, perform cosmetic elective surgery on my perfect newborn?" The answer is no.

Doctors tell you the amputated Lie when it comes to Circumcision. I beg you to learn the WHOLE TRUTH.

Every YEAR, more than 100 babies die from Circumcision. If this was a product, a toy, a crib, stroller, bottle for sale, on the market, for babies, it would have been recalled long ago.

My MIL says i'm a bad mother to my newborn...(please help me :( )?

Q. I gave birth to my beautiful daughter Amberlyn Jade on June 17, 2011. My husband and I made the decision long before I gave birth that we wanted to have time to bond with our little one and get settled at home before accepting family and friends to come and see her.

We got home on June 20th and his mother was sitting in our driveway waiting for us. Apparently she had called the hospital because my husband and I had shut our phones off, and the hospital told her I'd been discharged. My husband got out of the car and told her she needed to leave and wait for us to call. My MIL told him she wasnât leaving without her grandbaby because she wanted to take her and show her off to her friends. My husband told her under no circumstances would ANYONE touch OUR daughter unless we were present. This made her cry, and she finally left. We went in the house and got settled in with our LO. After a week had passed, my husband and I felt we were ready to share our daughter with family, and I called my mother and he called his and told them they could come over. When my MIL arrived, I was sitting in the living room with my princess asleep in my arms, and my MIL walked straight in and took her out of my arms and started kissing her face and bouncing her up and down and rocking her. She didnât even wash her hands before she stuck her finger in her mouth and started saying, âOh your my precious baby Iâm gonna take you home for the weekend and buy you toys, I have your crib all set upâ, and all this other sh!t that pissed me off. My baby was screaming (she had woken her up) but my MIL said âOh your mommy doesnât know how to take care of you like I do.â My husband grabbed our daughter and took her to the nursery to calm her down and I told my MIL she needed to leave and she wasnât allowed back. She told me I was a bad mother for trying to keep her grandbaby away from her and that I didnât know how to be a mom. I told her to get out, and she left but she kept making rude comments. My mother showed up about 15 minutes later, and I had no problem letting her hold Amberlyn, because she washed her hands and waited till I handed her over. I told my mother what had happened and she told me not to pay her any attention, and that I was a great mother because I was being very careful with my daughterâs health and well-being. My family has all been over to see her, and they respect my husband and I enough to wash their hands before they hold her, they donât smoke before they come, they give her back if she starts to cry and they donât pass her around, they ask us if we mind if someone else holds her first. My husband and I really appreciate how supportive my family is being, but my husbandâs family has refused to come over, even though weâve invited them, including his mother back, as long as they follow our rules. His mother calls him every day and tells him that Iâm a bad mother because I wonât let her take my daughter out. Um, hello, sheâs barely is a month old, there is NO way in hell my daughter is going anywhere without her mother. She tells my husband that Iâm a selfish and inconsiderate mother who has postpartum depression and should be in rehab and to let her take care of our baby until Iâm âbetter.â


Iâve been letting the insults roll off my back, but last night his mother showed up at our house and my husband let her in. I was in the nursery breastfeeding my daughter and she just barged in and told me I needed to get done because she was gonna take the baby out and bring her back in the morning after she had time to spend with her. She said I was a horrible mother and should be locked up for âdepriving her of her rights as a grandma to take her grandchild out and have her spend the nightâ


Am I a bad mother? Did you let grandparents take your newborn out? Did you let them have stay over at their grandparents house? Am I just overreacting to this? I know that new moms are overprotective, but am I taking it too far? Iâm scared my little girl is gonna lose out on having both sets of grandparents. I donât want Amberlyn to resent me for not letting her be close to her grandma :( What do I do? Iâm so confused and my husband doesnât think itâs a big deal but I do :( I grew up with a very close and loving family and I want the same for her, but if all my MIL is gonna do is call me a bad mother should I just ignore that side of the family?

You are NOT a bad mom, your MIL is crazy and if she is going to keep acting like this then the best thing you can do is keep your daughter away from her (if she won't respect your wishes in your own home, lord only knows what would happen if she had the baby for a few hours). My daughter is 5 1/2 weeks old and I have not let her go anywhere without me. The only time I left her was for 5 minutes with my mother while I went to get my mail, and that was only this past weekend. I will not be letting her spend weekends with my mom or MIL anytime soon which is especially hard for my MIL to understand because my stepson is with her every weekend. And the others are right about breastfeeding - At this age, it is absolutely detrimental that you feed on demand.

It totally depends on what seats your children will be riding in and in what positions.

I would look into the Chicco Key Fit 30 infant car seat as it is typically narrower than other infant car seats. Usually the KeyFit works best when installed in the center. Another option is using a convertible car seat straight from birth. Look at the lowest bottom slots measuring about 8 inches or less to ensure the harness straps can be adjusted at or below the baby's shoulders.

The Diono Radian is the narrowest car seat on the market that measures about 14" across the thighs and 17" wide at the shoulders. It is typically outgrown around age 3-5 rear facing and another two to three years forward facing. This means that it will be the last harnessed car seat your child will need. It is spendy, but it is indeed worth it. The Radian R100 can typically be found on sale on amazon for around $207: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=diono+radian+r100

A newborn needs their car seat in at at a 45 degree angle to keep their airway open and the Radian does take up a ton of front to back space in the vehicle. You could try installing it in the center seat and have the top part of the Radian fan between the two front vehicle seats. Or you could have the Radian installed behind the passenger seat, but have no one sit in the front passenger seat until your baby gets some head control. When your infant is older, you can always used the angle adjuster by Diono to get the seat more upright.

You can always use the Chicco KeyFit 30 then get the Diono Radian later so you don't have to eat the dashboard. It is completely up to you =]

But I have to warn you- boosters can be difficult to buckle in a three across situation. You might get some scraped knuckles, but it is indeed do-able.

Also, if you do install in the outboard seating position for the infant seat, installing with the seat belt generally gives you more room. When installing it with the seat belt, the car seat can be scooted closer to the door. The seat just needs to be installed with less than an inch of movement. The KeyFit 30 has a built in lock-off to aid seat belt installs.

My best advice for you is to go to Toys R Us and try out car seats and different combinations. If you are installing a car seat in the center position in the back seat, LATCH cannot be used as they aren't reinforced in the center (unless your vehicle manual says specifically that they can be used in the center). The lower anchors on the side seating positions are connected by a metal bar; this is (usually) not found in the center.

This is all really new to me and I am not sure what I am really going to need when he gets here. I have looked online and gotten a couple of lists of things that they suggest but I was wondering what I am really going to need for him since he is due in October. If anyone could help it would be great

When my MIL arrived, I was sitting in the living room with my princess asleep in my arms, and my MIL walked straight in and took her out of my arms and started kissing her face and bouncing her up and down and rocking her. She didnât even wash her hands before she stuck her finger in her mouth and started saying, âOh your my precious baby Iâm gonna take you home for the weekend and buy you toys, I have your crib all set upâ, and all this other sh!t that pissed me off. My baby was screaming (she had woken her up) but my MIL said âOh your mommy doesnât know how to take care of you like I do.â My husband grabbed our daughter and took her to the nursery to calm her down and I told my MIL she needed to leave and she wasnât allowed back. She told me I was a bad mother for trying to keep her grandbaby away from her and that I didnât know how to be a mom. I told her to get out, and she left but she kept making rude comments. My mother showed up about 15 minutes later, and I had no problem letting her hold Amberlyn, because she washed her hands and waited till I handed her over. I told my mother what had happened and she told me not to pay her any attention, and that I was a great mother because I was being very careful with my daughterâs health and well-being. My family has all been over to see her, and they respect my husband and I enough to wash their hands before they hold her, they donât smoke before they come, they give her back if she starts to cry and they donât pass her around, they ask us if we mind if someone else holds her first. My husband and I really appreciate how supportive my family is being, but my husbandâs family has refused to come over, even though weâve invited them, including his mother back, as long as they follow our rules. His mother calls him every day and tells him that Iâm a bad mother because I wonât let her take my daughter out. Um, hello, sheâs barely is a month old, there is NO way in hell my daughter is going anywhere without her mother. She tells my husband that Iâm a selfish and inconsiderate mother who has postpartum depression and should be in rehab and to let her take care of our baby until Iâm âbetter.â


Iâve been letting the insults roll off my back, but last night his mother showed up at our house and my husband let her in. I was in the nursery breastfeeding my daughter and she just barged in and told me I needed to get done because she was gonna take the baby out and bring her back in the morning after she had time to spend with her. Am I a bad mother? Did you let grandparents take your newborn out? Did you let them have stay over at their grandparents house? Am I just overreacting to this? You are NOT a bad mom, your MIL is crazy and if she is going to keep acting like this then the best thing you can do is keep your daughter away from her (if she won't respect your wishes in your own home, lord only knows what would happen if she had the baby for a few hours). My daughter is 5 1/2 weeks old and I have not let her go anywhere without me. The only time I left her was for 5 minutes with my mother while I went to get my mail, and that was only this past weekend. I will not be letting her spend weekends with my mom or MIL anytime soon which is especially hard for my MIL to understand because my stepson is with her every weekend. And the others are right about breastfeeding - At this age, it is absolutely detrimental that you feed on demand.

How do I deal with people hyper-genderizing about my baby?

I recently attended a party with my five month old daughter, and the other guests could not stop talking about what an extreme "girl" she was. It was fine at first - I mean, yes, she IS a girl - but it got to the point where no one was mentioning anything else. "What a girl she is! No one would mistake her for a boy! Look at those petite shoulders! Look at that face!" This went on and on. Worse, when she started touching the arm of another baby - a boy, who didn't mind, nor did his mother - others started saying, "What a forward female! Watch out for her!" I am confident that my daughter was NOT touching the boy out of any romantic feeling; she shows similar interest in little girls.

I just smiled through most of this, occasionally acknowledging, "Yes, she is a girl," but as she gets older, I don't want her to think that her primary characteristic is that of being a stereotypical "girl." How could I defuse this in future situations?

I don't have any biological children, but hyper-gendered speech and actions to the children I care for (as a foster carer) is so strong at times that I dress all the newborns and small babies in neutral clothes and just say "I can't say the gender...". (We have had to hide children's gender before if they had a parent who was violent and prone to tracking their children down).

You could start with more neutral clothing.

What all your friends are doing is- unknowingly- reinforcing the stereotypes of femininity that society has taught us. There's not much to do about it, except maybe dressing your girl in the "boy's" clothes occasionally (or at least around these people) and giving her a mix of "boy" and "girl" toys. Which isn't a bad idea anyway.

I would look into the Chicco Key Fit 30 infant car seat as it is typically narrower than other infant car seats. Usually the KeyFit works best when installed in the center. Another option is using a convertible car seat straight from birth. Look at the lowest bottom slots measuring about 8 inches or less to ensure the harness straps can be adjusted at or below the baby's shoulders.

The Diono Radian is the narrowest car seat on the market that measures about 14" across the thighs and 17" wide at the shoulders. It is typically outgrown around age 3-5 rear facing and another two to three years forward facing. This means that it will be the last harnessed car seat your child will need. It is spendy, but it is indeed worth it. A newborn needs their car seat in at at a 45 degree angle to keep their airway open and the Radian does take up a ton of front to back space in the vehicle. Or you could have the Radian installed behind the passenger seat, but have no one sit in the front passenger seat until your baby gets some head control. When your infant is older, you can always used the angle adjuster by Diono to get the seat more upright.

You can always use the Chicco KeyFit 30 then get the Diono Radian later so you don't have to eat the dashboard. It is completely up to you =]

But I have to warn you- boosters can be difficult to buckle in a three across situation. You might get some scraped knuckles, but it is indeed do-able.

Also, if you do install in the outboard seating position for the infant seat, installing with the seat belt generally gives you more room. When installing it with the seat belt, the car seat can be scooted closer to the door. The seat just needs to be installed with less than an inch of movement. The KeyFit 30 has a built in lock-off to aid seat belt installs.

My best advice for you is to go to Toys R Us and try out car seats and different combinations. If you are installing a car seat in the center position in the back seat, LATCH cannot be used as they aren't reinforced in the center (unless your vehicle manual says specifically that they can be used in the center). The lower anchors on the side seating positions are connected by a metal bar; this is (usually) not found in the center.

Preparing for foster care before starting the process?

We're hoping to do foster to adopt, hoping for a girl age 0-4..but we're also open to a sibling combo, boy/girl or girl/girl up to age 4..

Hubby and I are planning to remodel our house before trying to foster. A total remodel, not because we want to, but because we need to. Carpet, drywall, painting, tile, new tubs and showers, sinks..everything.

We're thinking it'll take about 1 year. In the mean time, we're talking about whether we should stock up on clothes and supplies for the age group that we're planning to foster.

So, when winter clothes go on sale, buy a bunch of winter clothes for newborn up to 4 or 5T, same with summer and fall clothes...also school supplies, toothbrushes, kids shampoos, baby supplies, car seats, convertible cribs, toys, etc?

And while we're remodeling, we are also planning to child-proof from top to bottom.

Do you think buying clothes is a bad idea? Ive heard stories about kids only showing up with the clothes on their back. Some have said if I buy them this year, by next year they will be "out of style" but I don't really think a 4 year old cares too much, and I'll try to buy things that will stay in style for a while, like plain shirts...

What do ya think? Good idea/Bad idea?
Any other suggestions on things we should buy and do in the year (2011) before we foster?

I was in a foster home until I was 4 and a half. I remember I walked into the house and I was the fisrt foster child they had and I remember that I walked in and I had a blast "shopping" (going thru the clothes they had already bought) and knowing they were mine for a while. If I were you I would probably buy just a couple of pairs of jeans and tee shirts and pajamas not to much of anything but enough that if you get a foster child last min you have enough to last you till you can go shopping. As for toys and stuff buy a couple mostly stuffed animals because you can give them to them and they could cuddle with them.

Hand foot and mouth disease!!!?

Q. I have a 2 year old daughter gave birth to our new baby girl friday november 25 2011. Because i left the hospital onlu 24 hrs after giving birth i was told to go take the baby to her ped three days later. While i was there some kids were playing with my 2 yr old that following friday she had a high fever and red bumps on sunday they turned into blisters took her to her ped and she was diagnosed with hfmd..fever only lasted a few days and thank god she didnt have that many in her mouth!!! 3 weeks later all the blisters on her hands and feet turned into dry skin! I took her a bath one night when she got out discovered she had new blisters on her feet! A week later there gone just took her a bath right now and found some new blisters i dont know what to do i havent took the newborn out the room i disinfect everything all toys cups i wash her clothes seperate i even change my clothes and wash my hands when going to tend to the baby!! Is she contagious should i keep the baby in the room im in desperte help the doc says shes not contagious i just need reasuarnce and advise why does it keep reacurring??? Thanks for youe time and advice

If there is no fever currently the doc is probably right about not being contagious. This may not be part of the hand foot and mouth. There are other causes of blisters on the hands and feet. If they persist, see a dermatologist.

I have a 6 and 5 year old in two booster seats and just found out i'm expecting.. Will a 2011 Nissan Rogue fit 2 boosters and an infant car seat comfortably or should i start looking around for something bigger

It totally depends on what seats your children will be riding in and in what positions.

I would look into the Chicco Key Fit 30 infant car seat as it is typically narrower than other infant car seats. Usually the KeyFit works best when installed in the center. Another option is using a convertible car seat straight from birth. Look at the lowest bottom slots measuring about 8 inches or less to ensure the harness straps can be adjusted at or below the baby's shoulders.

The Diono Radian is the narrowest car seat on the market that measures about 14" across the thighs and 17" wide at the shoulders. It is typically outgrown around age 3-5 rear facing and another two to three years forward facing. This means that it will be the last harnessed car seat your child will need. It is spendy, but it is indeed worth it. A newborn needs their car seat in at at a 45 degree angle to keep their airway open and the Radian does take up a ton of front to back space in the vehicle. You could try installing it in the center seat and have the top part of the Radian fan between the two front vehicle seats. Or you could have the Radian installed behind the passenger seat, but have no one sit in the front passenger seat until your baby gets some head control. When your infant is older, you can always used the angle adjuster by Diono to get the seat more upright.

You can always use the Chicco KeyFit 30 then get the Diono Radian later so you don't have to eat the dashboard. It is completely up to you =]

But I have to warn you- boosters can be difficult to buckle in a three across situation. You might get some scraped knuckles, but it is indeed do-able.

Also, if you do install in the outboard seating position for the infant seat, installing with the seat belt generally gives you more room. When installing it with the seat belt, the car seat can be scooted closer to the door. The seat just needs to be installed with less than an inch of movement. The KeyFit 30 has a built in lock-off to aid seat belt installs.

My best advice for you is to go to Toys R Us and try out car seats and different combinations. If you are installing a car seat in the center position in the back seat, LATCH cannot be used as they aren't reinforced in the center (unless your vehicle manual says specifically that they can be used in the center). The lower anchors on the side seating positions are connected by a metal bar; this is (usually) not found in the center.

Every baby boy on the planet is born with a foreskin and yet very few have them removed. The foreskin is a perfectly normal natural body part.

It is illegal to circumcise baby girls. Would you be asking this question if your baby is a girl? The answer is probably no. So, the answer to would "I amputate normal healthy body parts of my baby boy,at the risk of death, perform cosmetic elective surgery on my perfect newborn?" The answer is no.

Doctors tell you the amputated Lie when it comes to Circumcision. I beg you to learn the WHOLE TRUTH.

Every YEAR, more than 100 babies die from Circumcision. If this was a product, a toy, a crib, stroller, bottle for sale, on the market, for babies, it would have been recalled long ago.
