My children had them when they were breast feeding. I'm sure they could be caused by teething, but are most likely the result of sucking on fingers or toys to sooth the teething. This is a portion of the definition found in Parenting Magazine. Hope this helps.

tips for a teething infant?

My son is just over 3 months old and is an early teether. We can see the tooth poking through and he is unconsolable lately...chewing his fists and drooling, We've tried Hylands teething gel (benzocaine free) and been giving him a dose of infant tylenol every 4-6 hours. I've also been giving him a little gripe water as well. My nipples are so bruised from him biting! What's also odd is that its none of his front teeth coming in, but his incisor on the top.
Any tips, mothers? The poor guy has hardley been able to sleep lately since he's in so much pain! My husband and I feel terrible!

When my twin brother and sister were little ( 18 months now) we got them teething toys. We also gave them distractions ( baby shows, rattles ,etc ) Talk to your doctor for some tools . Here are some really good teething toys.
