how do i entertain an infant while traveling by bus?

DOROTHY L

My daughter is 6 months old and we'll be moving to my home state by bus in a few weeks. It's a 36 hour trip with 4 transfers. How do i keep her entertained when she's awake? Also how do i keep her from getting too fussy as she'll be traveling mostly in her car seat? Thanks. Please keep in mind that baggage space will be limited. Also last question, how do i keep water warm for that long, or heat bottles without electricity? Thanks.

Answer
Pack five or six new toys that she has never seen before, look out for small things like toy mobile phone, board/fabric baby books, rattles, chew toys and soft animals (this way you wont need much space to pack them. If you ration them...say one every two hours, the excitement should last a while. mabye you could wrap them like gifts! You can play games like peek a boo and this little piggy and even spend some time looking out the window together and pointing out objects.
If you have plenty of money for the trip, you could invest in a portable dvd player and some sesame street or brainy baby dvds.

As far as your bottles go, heat them up really hot and put them in an insulated cooler bag or wrap them in a towel, take one out about 45 minutes b4 babys feed to cool down a bit before giving them to baby.

Traveling with Infant?

Mommy To 3

I am flying friday for the first time for both me and my infant son who is 6 months any suggestions or Advice welcome. Thanks everyone.

Answer
Either nurse or give him a bottle for take off and landing. It will stop his ears from popping. If he gets fussy, get up and walk him up & down the aisle. People will be a lot less annoyed by you walking up and down and letting them see a beautiful baby than by a child screaming. Have lots of soft QUIET toys. They get bored with the same one eventually, so have a few they can switch around. Unless he stinks, try to avoid changing a diaper on the plane. There is really no place to do it, and holding him in your lap while you sit on the toilet in the tiny stall is just not fun.

My oldest was 4 months old the first time he flew, and it was a great trip. Good luck.
