Disney Toy Story?

Q. I need a detailed synoposis of the first five minutes of Toy Story. Anyone love that movie enough to remember ?

Yes, I would watch it if I could but I'm at school.

Answer
The story begins with a boy named Andy playing with his toys, such as a Mr. Potato Head, a plastic dinosaur toy, and his favorite toy, Woody, a cowboy toy. He takes Woody into the living room and plays with him some more, with a short interruption talking to his mom about his birthday party later that day and the upcoming move to a new house. After playing with Woody, Andy starts helping his mom by carrying his baby sister to her. While he is gone, all the toys come to life.

The human party makes all the toys extremely nervous, wondering if Andy will get a toy that will replace them--especially with the news that the family will be moving soon. Woody sends the small green soldiers downstairs to spy on the party. At the end of the party, Andy's mom pulls out a surprise gift from a nearby closet, which turns out to be a Buzz Lightyear action figure. Buzz does not seem to be aware that he is a piece of plastic, believing himself to be a real space ranger, on a mission to save the universe from Evil Emperor Zurg. The other toys take to him immediately, being impressed by his many features. Only Woody is unconvinced, showing jealousy towards Buzz, who might replace him as Andy's favorite toy.

Andy is given a surprise trip to his favorite restaurant: Pizza Planet. However, he can take only one toy with him. Knowing this, Woody tries to shove Buzz behind Andy's dresser, but instead inadvertently knocks him out the window. When the other toys learn of Woody's actions, they think he has turned into a killer. They try to attack him without even giving him a chance to explain, but he is rescued when Andy, unable to find Buzz, takes Woody on the trip. At a stop at a Dinoco gas station for gas, Woody finds that Buzz grabbed ahold of the family's minivan and is with them. Woody tries to apologize but Buzz wouldn't listen and threw the first punch. The two begin a fist fight, knocking each other out of the minivan, and are left behind when it drives away. Woody convinces Buzz to hitch a lift on a Pizza Planet truck, in order to return to Andy.

Woody finds Andy there, but Buzz, still believing he is a real space ranger, climbs into a toy crane game, thinking it is a spaceship that will take him to his rival's location. Woody goes in after him, but the two are eventually found by Sid Phillips, who lives next door to Andy and is known to torture and destroy toys for his own entertainment.

Left alone in Sid's room, Woody and Buzz come upon a group of mis-matched toys, the results of Sid's many "experiments." Woody and Buzz react in fear, thinking that the mis-matched toys are cannibals. Meanwhile at Andy's house, the toys continue to look for Buzz in the bushes. But when Andy and his mother come home, he notices that Woody is gone. The other toys wonder what has become of the two. Some are worried for both Buzz and Woody, while others express their hope that Woody has met a bad end. The next day, at Sid's house, Woody and Buzz, having been mistreated by Sid, (Sid managed to burn Woody's forehead with a magnifying glass) try to escape, only to run into Sid's maniac dog, Scud. Eventually getting out of Sid's room, Buzz comes upon a television where he sees a commercial for the Buzz Lightyear line of toys. Watching it, he realizes that Woody was right. He was a toy this whole time, not a space ranger. In one last desperate attempt to prove he is not a toy, Buzz attempts to fly out of a window by jumping from the guardrail of the stairs on the second floor, only to fall to the floor, losing his left arm in the process. He is then found by Sid's sister Hannah, who takes him and puts him with her tea party.

Woody finally finds Buzz in Hannah's room, dressed as "Mrs. Nesbitt" and attending a tea party. Woody formulates a plan of escape. The plan involved throwing a string of Christmas lights to the toys in Andy's room. Buzz is too depressed to care. When Woody throws the string of Christmas tree lights across the way to the toys in Andy's room, and the toys refuse to help him, thinking that it was Woody who yanked Buzz's arm off. Buzz refuses to back him up. The mixed-up toys then return and swarm over Buzz, to Woody's alarm. But it turns out they were only repairing him. Before Woody can make friends with them, however, Sid returns with his new acquisition: a firework rocket. He decides to blow up Buzz with it, but is stymied by rainfall.

Overnight, Woody and Buzz make amends, Woody helping Buzz come to terms with being a toy, and the two try to escape. Unfortunately Sid wakes up and takes Buzz out to blow him up, leaving Woody alone in the room. Of course, it was also when Andy and his family is going to move. Andy, still depressed to lose Woody and Buzz, finds only the cardboard spaceship of Buzz and his cowboy hat. Woody calls out to the mixed-up toys to tell them a plan to escape. After a daring escape through the house and past Scud, Woody and the other toys end up in the backyard with Sid. They decide to break the "rules" by allowing Sid to see that they can move on their own. Woody even speaks to him through his voicebox, telling him that his toys are sick of being tortured, then with his own voice tells him to "play nice." This freaks Sid out and he runs screaming into the house, with a now acquired fear of toys. His sister then frightens him with her toy doll.

Now freed from Sid, Woody and Buzz attempt to catch Andy's moving van just as it is pulling away from the house. After saying farewell to the mixed-up toys, a harrowing chase follows, with Scud chasing them and Andy's toys not helping, since they still believe Woody intentionally got rid of Buzz. Luckily, they get rid of Scud and let the toys believe in Woody to see that he is helping Buzz. Eventually, with the help of R/C, Andy's remote control car, and strategic use of Sid's rocket, Woody and Buzz return to Andy, whose mother thinks they were in the car all along.

At Christmas, we see a scene similar to the birthday party, with the toys less worried about the new ones, save a slightly nervous Buzz. Mr. Potato Head is pleased to learn that Andy's baby sister has been given a Mrs. Potato Head. When discussing being replaced by a new toy, like Woody was almost replaced by Buzz, Woody poses the question to Buzz, "What could Andy possibly get that is worse than you?" The answer comes in the form of Andy's first present, when a dog's bark is heard (In Toy Story 2, it is revealed that his name is Buster).

Learn to walk Baby toys?

Mrs. Z plu

I am looking for some type of walking toy that Dane can use. Nothing that gets moving really fast though because I don't want it to slip out from under him.

He has take to walking our kitchen chairs and it is making me SO nervous!

What have you used for your children? I plan on going tonight to get something.
No not a walker. Some type of push toy that he can walk with.

at what age does a baby start reaching for a toy on her own?

J

Answer
At around 2 months babies are learning how to use their neck and shoulder muscles and soon will begin trying to raise their heads when lying down and to reaching out for objects when sitting. You can hold toys out in front of your baby to encourage him or her to reach. Babies love brightly colored objects. Mobiles will attract your baby's attention. You also can introduce a soft rattle. Here are a few safety tips to remember when choosing toys for your baby:

* Never give your baby a toy with sharp or pointed edges
* Don't let your baby hold a toy with small removable parts that could cause choking
* Choose age-appropriate toys

Remember that babies develop differently and on their own schedules.

Have fun and enjoy every moment with ur little one!

Baby learning videos...?

Mandy

which ones are better? and when should i start showing then to her? She is 4 days old and i was just wondering so i can know when to buy them. Also when should i start buying her the baby learning toys too? any other helpful baby learning stuff you know about let me know. thanks.

Answer
They're all junk. Don't fall for the marketing hype; television is NOT good for babies. If you want to encourage her intellectual development, talk to her, read to her, sing to her. Make faces at her. Stick your tongue out. Tell her what you're doing while you're making a sandwich. Anything that involves you interacting...

YOU are going to be her favourite, and most educational, toy for quite some time.

"TV watching "rewires" an infantâs brain, says Dr. Dimitri A. Christakis lead researcher and director of the Child Health Institute at Childrenâs Hospital and Regional Medical Center, Seattle, Wash. The damage shows up at age 7 when children have difficulty paying attention in school....

How much TV should I let my baby watch?

No child under age two should watch television at all, the Academy of American Pediatrics advised in 1998. Doctors blame TV for increasing aggression and obesity in children, now they add ADHD risk to early TV use."

How soon after your baby learned to crawl and cruise did he/she start walking?

My daughter learned to crawl around 8 1/2-9 months. Within a day she was pulling herself up and within a couple days cruising. Now she's 10months old and cruises pretty good.

Just wondering after your baby learned all these tricks did they learn to walk??

I do realize she will when she's ready and that there is a wide variety of normal for all infants. :)

Answer
My daughter started to crawl 6 days after she turned 6 months. She then started to pull up just before she turned 7 months and was cruising really well at 8 months. I was sure she was going to be walking at 9 months, but she didn't! She just wouldn't let go - didn't feel comfortable. She did not start walking independently until 11 1/2 months. When she did start walking thought she walked well. She is a year old now and is walking really well and fast! She also squats to pick up toys and stands back up with no problems.

What can you recommend for a 4 months old baby boy?

Cutie

My son is 4 months old and I am planning to buy him a few gadgets to keep him happy. I am thinking a bouncer or swing and also a few learning toys to stimulate his coordination or motor skills etc. Any cool items you can recommend? No limits to price ranges. Thanks!

Answer
My son turns four months old today! There are three items that I consider absolutely necessary for him to play and have fun.

The first is an exersaucer. he just loves it to death, and it provides him time to play by himself (which a little of that each day is recommended) and explore. it has objects to touch and play with and he spins around and just loves to be up and looking around. Usually about fifteen minutes in it at a time like twice a day. We also have a jumperoo (fisherprice rainforest one) but he doesn't seem big enough to use it yet, his feet barely touch and he's not very interested in bouncing. I'm sure he will be soon though, and my niece who is now eight months old just loves hers!

The second is a play mat. This thing is great, especially the toys to the sides that he can reach for and work on rolling over and such. The lights and sounds just fascinate my little guy! I have the fisherprice rainforest playmat and he even likes to fall asleep on it to the animals sounds it plays!

The third is me!!! Its so much fun to get down on a blanket and have tummy time with him, show him toys and watch his expressions, make faces at him and sounds and watch his laughter. You can definitely be the most entertaining toy he has! There is nothing more satisfying than when I can make him smile, or giggle!

Would buying toys in English and Spanish confuse my child?

I have a baby and I want him to be exposed to, and learn both English and Spanish. My family speaks only English, although I speak spanish, and his fathers family speak Spanish. I've read conflicting articles where they say you should teach them one language first and others where they say you could teach a baby both at the same time. I've bought him some learning toys that teach him the alphabet and numbers, etc., and a couple of them are in Spanish. Will it confuse him if I let him play with toys that speak 2 different languages?

Answer
I have friends who are missionaries to Mexico. When they moved there, they had a 5 year old boy and a 2 year old girl. They later had another daughter born in Mexico. The children are all teens now.
The boy speaks perfect English and speaks Spanish with an English accent.
The girl born in Mexico speaks perfect Spanish and speaks English with a Spanish accent.
The girl who moved there at age 2 speaks perfect English and perfect Spanish with no trace of an accent in either language.

I don't think your child will be confused. In fact, it's easier for a baby to learn 2 languages at once, because they don't know that most people only learn one.

How many toys does your toddler have? Or how much of your house does your baby occupy?

Jenny

I'm wondering how many toys other people give their toddlers. You can estimate.
Each stuffed animal counts as one toy.
A fisher price barn with all the animals I would count as one.
Each hotwheels is one toy.

You can figure your own system. I'm wondering if we're nuts or if most people have this many toys. We have a pretty big house and we've turned the dining room into a play room for books, letters and numbers with some stuffed animals and cars. It's also where my piano is and we have a sofa where I play guitar. The entry area has his play village with his play houses and tunnels. The village spills over into my office but it makes a nice door and he doesn't go past that line.

The kitchen, living and breakfast area are relatively toy free. Maybe a toy or two that he's playing with and his rocking horse stays in the living room.

Upstairs, his room is another play room which is nice in winter as it is much colder downstairs. We have more books, letter and learning toys, oodles of stuffed animals, Fisher Price garage and Farm and a variety of other toys.

Just curious to see the toy situation in your home. My mom says she's never seen a child with more toys.

Answer
My 2 year old doesn't have a lot, but she has enough.
Our house is a little different. Our main living space (3 bedrooms, 2 bath, kitchen/living/dining) is only 900 square feet all together - high ceilings in our A-frame make it feel bigger, though. We've got a basement that adds another 900ish square feet, but we only really use that when it's warm. it's only heat is a wood stove. So we don't have a lot of room for lots of toys.
In the kitchen area, I've got a cooking stand with a shelf that has 2 tubs of art supplies/playdoh, which she shares with her 5 year old brother
In the living room, she's got a large dollhouse (we fixed up my old one, for her, for Christmas) and in a corner I have a medium sized bookcase (3 ft x 5 ft) of puzzles, games and toys, 2 kid recliners with a little end table that has a few books. there's also a basket of books by the couch (not that anyone usually notices) We also have a large rubbermaid of blocks. Not necessarily fancy, expensive blocks - some were melissa and doug, but the vast majority are old decking cut up that a neighbor brought over. They love those the most.
In her room, which is pretty small, she's got a laundry basket of stuffed animals and dolls. She has a small play kitchen and a little bin of play food/dishes. She's got a small bookshelf with her books and a few random toys. She's got a few dress up clothes in there as well. And that's about it for her. We don't have oodles of anything.

My son doesn't seem interested in the baby toys anymore... and the ones he does want tend to be for "older" kids... and a little above his comprehension.

Just curious about other two year old toy interests.

Answer
Both my son and my daughter LOVED playing with Duplos at the age of 2. Little Matchbox or Hotwheels kind of cars should be fine too by now because at age 2 they usually don't put too many toys into their mouth anymore, but if your son still regularly puts toys into his mouth, then pick bigger cars with big wheels and make sure there securely attached to the body of the car. Both my kids also liked playing with Thomas the Train kind of train at that age, but you still need to design (or at least help them design) the track because they don't know how to build a "closed" track yet. Later, he will learn to build it himself. Have him play with playdough, draw and paint as often as possible. You can also start teaching him how to hold kid friendly scissors and explain him how to open and shut it. At first, hold the piece of paper for him.

How soon after baby begins to pull up will he/she learn to walk?

and so it

I know all babies are different, I am just asking when your baby learned to walk or cruise (holding on to furniture) after he began to pull up on the crib or furniture.
Hold was he/she and did you do anything to help them walk?

Answer
my daughter started pulling up at 6 months, crawling at 7, 3-5 step cruising at 8, real cruising (walking behind toys, walking while holding on to one hand) at 9 months, she is 10 months now and will take 2-3 steps to get to the next "safe"place
